I have informed relevant colleagues that I will not be involved in another round with the Master course "Philosophy of science and health care ethics", offered by Faculty of health sciences and part of the Master in Pre-Hospital Critical Care.

I have been asked to step in to teach a course in Spring 2016 in Examen Facultatum (general version) at University of Agder, but have declined, since I already have lots of obligations (related to my job as Associate professor at University of Stavanger).

Today I have lectured at UiS Business School (including for IMKS students) in Examen Philosophicum, and held two seminars in Examen Philosophicum at Department of social studies.

Today I have stopped by at the multiple choice exam in Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger´s Department of health studies, responding to students who had questions about the exam questions.

11th lecture

Today I have lectured in Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies, for the 11th time this autumn. The topic was "Explain, understand, narrate" (second lecture).

Today I lectured (2 hours) in the course Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger's Department of social studies, mainly on hermeneutics.

Today I have taught for 6 hours - a 2 hour lecture, on philosophy of science, and 2 x 2 hours of seminars.

Today I have taught for 6 hours - 2 hours of lecturing (topic: justice) and 2 x 2 hours of teacher-assisted seminar - at University of Stavanger's Department of social studies.

Today I have, for the second time this autumn, taught for 6 consecutive hours - 2 hours lecture (this week on contract theory - political philosophy), followed by 2 x 2 hours teacher-assisted seminars (half course in academic writing, half work with multiple choice questions), at University of Stavanger's Department of social studies.

2 hours of teaching - normative ethics

Today I have been lecturing for 2 hours in the course Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger's Department of social studies. The topic of this lecture, the third this autumn, was normative ethics.

Second lecture in Ex.Phil. given at Department of social studies

Today I gave the second lecture this Autumn in Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger's Department of social studies, for child welfare students. The topic was: What is philosophy and ethics?

Agreed to be course coordinator in PHCC master

On April 7th (while in parliament, as it happened) I was asked, and agreed, to be coordinator for the course "Philosophy of Science and Health Care Ethics" in the master program Pre-Hospital Critical Care (PHCC) - see previous posts, including on more recent developments - to be offered by University of Stavanger (UiS EVU) starting this fall.

University of Stavanger's master programme in Pre-Hospital Critical Care, which was recently approved by the university board (see previous posts), has launched its programme webpage. Application deadline for the first round is August 2nd.

Contract for position at Department of social studies signed; in effect from August 1st

Some time back I signed my employment contract at Department of Social Studies (see "To be employed by Department of social studies", posted January 31st). This employment (Associate professor in philosophy, 50 % position) runs from August 1st 2014 to July 31st 2015 (not July to June). In addition to teaching duties this autumn, I will be responsible for supervision of both bachelor and master students finishing their theses in spring 2015.

PHCC master programme at UiS approved - to be established this autumn

The master programme Pre-Hospital Critical care (PHCC) was approved by the board of the University of Stavanger in its meeting Thursday this week (see very brief report from this board meeting - in Norwegian).

Also, yesterday I had a meeting with one of the core teachers involved, to make plans for coordination etc.

In its board meeting today, the University of Stavanger discussed establishing of a new master programme in Pre-Hospital Critical Care (PHCC). In the case document I am mentioned on p. 28, as prospective course coordinator for "Philosophy of Science and Health Care Ethics".

UiS, October 1st: Meeting and course

Tuesday last week I attended a meeting at University of Stavanger's Department of health studies for teachers responsible for subjects to be given next Spring (in my case Examen Philosophicum in the web-based bachelor in nursing), and a 1-hour course in "EpN" (Emne på Nett [subjects online]).

Teaching - philosophy of science

Yesterday I taught for 5 hours in this autumn's master course for health studies students "Philosophy of science and ethics" (MHV140). Introduction to philosophy of science was the day's topic. The course design is different this year compared with last year, but all seems to go well - and better than last year (which went well enough).
