First Ex.phil. lecture this Autumn; responsibilities this Autumn semester

Today I have given the first lecture this semester in Ex.phil. at the University of Stavanger´s Department of psychology (SVEXPHIL-IP). The topic, besides course information, was epistemology. Some 60-70 students attended.

My work in Ex.phil. this Autumn is partly on my regular work plan (at Department of social studies) and partly overtime work. I am responsible for half the teaching, half the grading, and all assessment of a compulsory assignment, in addition to being course coordinator.

Lectures, seminar given in Theory of science MA course

Today I have taught, for the first time, in the master course Theory of science (MSO120), which is offered by the University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies. The topic was introduction to philosophy of science and theory of science, and the teaching included 3 hours of lectures and a one hour seminar. Some 17 students attended.

This Autumn semester I am course coordinator (i.e., "emneansvarlig") for two courses, namely the abovementioned course Theory of science as well as Examen Philosophicum (Ex.Phil.) at Department of psychology.

Autumn plans including writing plans

I have made calendar plans for writing this autumn, with 35,5 writing days scheduled as of now, including 3 now in July. Also this Autumn, I plan to present at 6 conferences (including 1 digitally and 1 locally, 4 abroad), and I will give a full course.

Four meetings and a virtual glade; yesterday full-day hotel seminar

Today I have attended four meetings, namely three dialogue/feedback meetings with course coordinators for general ph.d. courses in the ph.d. program in social sciences, and a meeting in an appointments committee for a position as head of department. I have also watched part of today´s Biosemiotic Glade.

Yesterday I attended an all-day faculty leadership group seminar at Sola Strand hotel.

Explanation of grading

Today (I want my weekends back...) I have explained grading of three exam papers in Examen Philosophicum at Department of social studies.

MEE140 grading and grade reporting

Today I have graded 5 papers from the home exam of "Philosophy of science and research methods" (MEE140), and reported grades also on behalf of two other examiners, altogether involving some 54 exam papers.

Summary session held

Today I took part in a 1-hour summery session for the MA course "Philosophy of science and research methods".

Today I have registered approval of completed compulsory activity in "Philosophy of science and research methods". I have also conducted an "empty" course description revision for Ex.phil. (no change made).

Today I attended a meeting with fellow course coordinators in the bachelor study in child welfare, discussing revision of course descriptions, teaching in research methods, and other issues.

I have informed relevant colleagues that I will not be involved in another round with the Master course "Philosophy of science and health care ethics", offered by Faculty of health sciences and part of the Master in Pre-Hospital Critical Care.

I gave one Ex.phil. seminar yesterday and another one today, thus completing the first round of four seminars.

First MEE140 lecture

Today I gave the first lecture in the Master course "Philosophy of science and research methods", which is now followed by the students of two master degree programs - Master in energy, environment and society (MEES) and Master in urban planning (M-BYUTV), altogether some 65 students. Today we went through course information, started organizing/planning student presentations, and covered the introduction of the philosophy of science text book.
