Course description revision in MEE140

I have conducted course description revisions in the course "Philosophy of science and research methods" (MEE140).

First MEE140 lecture

Today I gave the first lecture in the Master course "Philosophy of science and research methods", which is now followed by the students of two master degree programs - Master in energy, environment and society (MEES) and Master in urban planning (M-BYUTV), altogether some 65 students. Today we went through course information, started organizing/planning student presentations, and covered the introduction of the philosophy of science text book.

Today I presented basic information about Ex.Phil. to child welfare students at Department of social studies, University of Stavanger. I was accompanied by my oldest son.

Today I attended a meeting at Department of social studies on revision of course descriptions in the courses in the bachelor degree in child welfare.

Meeting at IMKS regarding course description revision

This Thursday I attended a meeting at Department of Media, Culture and Social Science regarding revision of the course description for the philosophy of science and research methods course that I will be responsible for starting this autumn.

Course description for welfare state course reworked for application

The last few weeks, starting in early December, I have been involved in revising the course description for the MUNDUS course "Welfare state and welfare policy" (MEM110), in connection with an upcoming MFAMILY application to be sent in December by University of Stavanger and cooperating universities. A new version of the course description was sent today (third submission).

Minor change in MEM110 course description

A couple of weeks ago or so I conducted a minor revision of the course description for the international master course "Welfare state and welfare policy" (MEM110) for next Spring (change of readings).

Earlier this week I revised the course description for bachelor thesis in child welfare at University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies (course code BBABAC).

Course descriptions for SVEXPHIL4, SVEXPHIL6

The course description for Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger´s UiS Business School (course code SVEXPHIL4) is available here. I am named as "faglærer" [teacher].

I should also have been mentioned as teacher in the course description of Examen Philosophicum at University of Stavanger´s Department of media, culture and social studies (course code SVEXPHIL6).

PHCC Course description revised

Today I have finished revising the course description of the PHCC (Pre-Hospital Critical Care) master course "Philosophy of Science and Health Care" (course code FXPSH100), which is offered by UiS EVU.

"Is a wolf wild..." reading of interest in Australian course "Rethinking wildlife"

My 2010 article "Is a Wolf wild as Long as it Does Not Know that It Is Being Thoroughly Handled?" (published in the online academic journal Humanimalia) is listed among "Readings of interest" in the course "Rethinking Wildlife - Philosophy, Biodiversity, Extinction" (course code ARTS2244), offered in 2012 at The University of New South Wales, Australia – Arts and Social Sciences – School of Humanities. The course, given and convened by lecturer Thom van Dooren, was worth 6 Units of Credits (UOC), and was offered within the Environmental Studies Undergraduate program, and further available within the Philosophy Undergraduate Program. My article is listed in the course description under the very first lecture, given February 28th 2012 and entitled "What is wildlife?"

Course descriptions for three philosophy courses revised

The last couple of weeks I have conducted revision of the course descriptions of three courses at University of Stavanger's Department of Health Studies: 

• BSNEXP Examen Philosophicum (internet-based bachelor in nursing)
• MHV140 Philosophy of science and ethics
• SVEXPHIL2 Examen Philosophicum (bachelor in nursing)

Among the changes: Class-based group work in SVEXPHIL; some English-language anthology texts replaced by Norwegian introductions to ethics and to philosophy of science in MHV140, and in the same subject compulsory group presentations of the selected anthology texts.

The number of students in each of these courses is about 30, 50 and 210 respectively.
