Two meetings and then some

Today I have attended a meeting as Vice-Dean of Research with representatives from the Norwegian and Polish Departments of Justice and UiS researchers concerning possible collaboration. I have also met with two colleagues to transfer experiences from my coordination of field visits for MUNDUS students the two last years.

Today I have taught by moderating for 5 hours during our field visit summary in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" MA class, along with my colleague Svein Tuastad.

Today I have moderated three hours of appointment with politicians at Stavanger City Hall involving international MFAMILY Erasmus Mundus students taking the course "Welfare state and welfare policy".

Today I met with the MFAMILY class in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" course to inform the students about arrangements for a forthcoming field visit to Stavanger City Hall in May.

Work lunch - evaluating and planning teaching

Today I have attended a work lunch with two colleagues concerning evaluation and planning of teaching at Master level on welfare policies etc.

Teaching on master level on autonomy and paternalism

Today I have lectured for close to three hours in a joint session for the MFAMILY class and Norwegian master students, with the topic autonomy and paternalism in political (and moral) theory.

Work plan adjusted; responsibility in MEM110

My work plan for University of Stavanger has been adjusted. I will start supervising Joakim Jiri Haaland as PhD student January 1st 2018 (not this autumn). However, next Spring I will lecture for 6 hours and have responsibility (again) for field visits in the course "Welfare state and welfare policy".

Today I met with a colleague to discuss experience with the MFAMILY course Welfare state and welfare policy and possible plans ahead.

Erasmus Mundus funding achieved for MFAMILY, second round

The University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies has successfully applied for Erasmus Mundus funding for Master in Social Work with Families and Children (MFAMILY) for a new round. I have been somewhat involved in the application work, in relation to revision and presentation of the course "Welfare state and welfare policy".

Today I attended a working lunch with some of the teachers in "Welfare state and welfare policy" where we evaluated this Spring´s course.

Student evaluation - results

I have earlier composed questions for student evaluation of the course "Welfare state and welfare policy", and today I received the results, which I have shared with other teachers in the course. Most feedback was mildly positive, though there were also some critical remarks.

Meeting with deputy mayor of Stavanger

Today I attended and facilitated a meeting between Erasmus Mundus students in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" course and the deputy mayor of Stavanger at Stavanger City Hall. This was our last appointment in field work this month.

Today I have composed exam questions for the continuation school exam in Welfare state and welfare policy.

Erasmus MUNDUS students at Stavanger City Hall

Today, along with a colleague from Department of social studies, I have accompanied students in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" class at a meeting at Stavanger City Hall. Several such meetings with politicians and policy-makers are to take place over the next couple of weeks.

3 hours of teaching

Today I taught for 3 hours - 2 hours lecture and 1 hour teacher-assisted group work - in Welfare state and welfare policy (MEM110). This was the introduction to our field visit at Stavanger municipality this week, including an introduction to the Norwegian political system.
