Philosophy business thriving in 2018

I have just reported business earnings for 2018, as part of the Norwegian tax settlements. My one-person firm (enkeltmannsforetak) "Spør filosofen" had 93,705 NOK in income, a record (with the possible exception of the year I wrote my grandfather´s biography). The company had 4.008 NOK in expenses, and an operating profit (before tax) amounting to 89.697 NOK (operating profit margin was 95,7%).

The income was mainly drawn from giving a whole course in philosophy of science and health care ethics at UiS (sponsored by Norsk Luftambulanse), and a series of three open lectures, plus composing leaflet text, in connection with the video art exhibition "Vitner" at Sølvberget gallery.

I have informed relevant colleagues that I will not be involved in another round with the Master course "Philosophy of science and health care ethics", offered by Faculty of health sciences and part of the Master in Pre-Hospital Critical Care.

On Friday 23rd of February I taught for 5 hours, finishing teaching in "Philosophy of science and health care ethics". As the second gathering concluded, the home exam began.

Today I have evaluated and approved three assignment texts submitted as replacement for participating in a student presentation in the PHCC Master course Philosophy of science and health care ethics.

Meeting on PHCC master

Today I have had a meeting with the new program coordinator for the Pre-Hospital Critical Care master at University of Stavanger´s Faculty of health sciences, discussing the course I am coordinating and teaching, on health care ethics and philosophy of science.

17 hours taught this week; done for year

I have just finished teaching 6 more hours in "Philosophy of science and health care ethics". This concludes my teaching this first of two gatherings, and all teaching this year.

Today I have taught for the first 6 hours in "Health care ethics and philosophy of science" (MPH130), for Department of health studies. Today´s topic was introduction to ethics.

I have just reviewed and announced the selected compulsory readings in ethics and philosophy of science for the UiS course "Philosophy of science and health care ethics". Teaching starts November 29th.

To teach philosophy of science and ethics course for The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation/UiS

I have now clarified with University of Stavanger´s Department of health studies and Stiftelsen Norsk Luftambulanse [The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation] that I will be responsible for the course "Philosophy of science and health care ethics" this autumn. This is the second time I will be giving this course, as part of the master program Pre-Hospital Critical Care. This time around, the course is offered by Department of health studies, and I will be paid by The Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation.

Course description revised; new course code for master course for paramedics

A little while ago I revised the course description for the course «Philosophy of Science and Health Care Ethics». The course, previously run by UiS EVU, is now administered by University of Stavanger´s Department of health studies, and therefore has a new course code, MPH130_1 (the previous course code was FXPSH100).
