Book review on critical realism published in Fontene Forskning

Today I have been notified that my book review of Critical Realism for Health and Social Research, edited by May-Britt Solem and Dag Jenssen (Routledge, 2025) has been published in Fontene forskning.

Book chapter "Nosology and Semiotics" published

The book Organ Crosstalk in Acute Kidney Injury: Basic Concepts and Clinical Practices, with my introductory chapter "Nosology and Semiotics", was published online yesterday.

MC exam questions composed

Today I have composed Multiple Choice exam questions for the continuation exam in Department of health studies´ course Examen Philosophicum (course code SVEXPHIL2).

Teaching - philosophy of science

Yesterday I taught for 5 hours in this autumn's master course for health studies students "Philosophy of science and ethics" (MHV140). Introduction to philosophy of science was the day's topic. The course design is different this year compared with last year, but all seems to go well - and better than last year (which went well enough).

Announcement, program booklet for Stavanger workshop; discussions to be chaired by me

The workshop I am helping organising at University of Stavanger's Department of Health Studies, "Agency in Health Care: Phenomenology and Experience", has today been announced. The event will occur April 15th, and on April 16th Stephen Cowley will give an open lecture titled "Interactivity: Implications for language and cognition". The last week or so I have been working with Stephen Cowley, Paul Thibault, Febe Friberg and Sissel Husebø (all of whom will present at the workshop) to compose and complete a 7-page program booklet which includes abstracts and suggested readings. As the program details, I will be chairing two 45-minute discussion sessions, and my book chapter "Semiotics of Being and Uexküllian Phenomenology" is on the list of Suggested readings. 

UiS workshop on agency in health care scheduled for April 15th

The last few months I have been in contact with Stephen Cowley (University of Hertfordshire), Paul Thibault (University of Agder) and more recently Febe Friberg (University of Stavanger) and Sissel Husebø (UiS) concerning a workshop which is to be held at University of Stavanger's Department of Health Studies. The workshop, which is titled "Agency in Health Care: Phenomenology and Experience", has now been scheduled for April 15th. 

All four mentioned above will present, with the visiting professors Stephen Cowley and Paul Thibault given most time. I am more of a coordinator. Stephen (who is the coordinator of the Distributed Language Group) will further give a public lecture at the department on April 16th. My head of department Kari Vevatne has helped making these events possible by offering the necessary funding. The workshop will be part of the department's doctoral seminar, for which Febe is one of the coordinators.
