"Ecological semiotics" now paginated and published as part of 3rd edition of Encyclopedia of Ecology

I have received my author copy of my chapter "Ecological semiotics" which has now, two years after first being published, appeared as part of the 3rd edition of Elsevier´s Encyclopedia of Ecology.

"Making the Umwelt Bubble of the Modern Synthesis Burst" (Biosemiotics, 2021), with its 3.112 accesses (2.552), is thus out of the list, while "The evolutionary origin(s) of the Umwelt" (Biosemiotics, 2022), with 3.344 accesses, did not quite make the top 10. Altogether Springer Nature lists 24 publications of mine with a total of ca. 94.700 accesses and some 281 registered citations. The top 10 accounts for 76.536 accesses.

According to my Google Scholar profile my research has to date attracted a total of 1.612 citations (+18 since April 30th). This includes 177 citations in 2025 (+5 since April 30tht) and 64 citations so far in 2026 (+13 since April 30th). My h-index remains 22 and my i10-index 46.

This means that I have now passed 1.600 citations. As for my Google Scholar history, on Google´s count I passed 1.000 citations in December 2023, 1.100 citations in April 2024, 1.200 citations in September 2024, 1.300 citations in January 2025, 1.400 citations in June 2025, and 1.500 citations in December 2025. According to my Google Scholar profile my research has attracted a total of 1.554 citations (+17 since February 2nd). This includes 168 citations in 2025 (+3 since February 2nd) and 20 citations so far in 2026 (+6). My h-index is now 22 (+1 since February 2nd), while my i10-index remains 46. The h-index implies that 22 of my texts have been cited at least 22 times each.

The latest addition to my h-index list of publications appears to be "Methodology of zoosemiotics: Concepts, categorisations, models", which I co-wrote with Timo Maran, Kadri Tüür, Riin Magnus, Silver Rattasepp and Nelly Mäekivi and which was published in 2016. This chapter has according to Google Scholar´s count been cited 22 times, including two citations in 2025.

According to my Google Scholar profile my research has attracted a total of 1.537 citations (+31 since December 31st 2025). This includes 165 citations in 2025 (+17 since December 31st) and 14 citations so far in 2026 (+14). 2025 now stands as my fourth best year in terms of number of citations, behind 2024 (226), 2022 (197) and 2023 (185) but ahead of 2021 (154). 

My h-index remains 21, and my i10-index 46.

At year-end, according to my Google Scholar profile my research has attracted a total of 1.506 citations (+22 since December 1st). This includes 148 citations in 2025 (+17 since December 1st). As of now 2025 stands as my fifth best year in terms of number of citations, behind 2024 (226), 2022 (197), 2023 (186) and 2021 (154).

My h-index remains 21, while my i10-index is now 46 (+2 since December 1st). This implies that 46 of my scientific texts now have at least 10 citations each. The latest additions to the 10+ club appears to be "Agency in biosemiotics and enactivism" (10 citations) and "The evolutionary origin(s) of the Umwelt" (11 citations).

 My research items have reached 30.000 reads on ResearchGate. This is about 3.500 more than 9 months ago, and about 20.000 more than by 2021.
