Second co-authored friluftsliv article accepted for journal publication

I have been notified that the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in", which I have co-authored with Joakim Jiri Haaland, has been accepted for publication.

#23,5; longtermism essay accepted and revised; Palgrave chapter proposal accepted

Today I have had half a book writing day and half an article writing day. 

For the book writing day, I researched industry news and other news related to climate change and particularly carbon capture and storage (CCS) in preparation for my forthcoming book Carbon Capture and the Future of Environmentalism. 

For the article writing day, I conducted minor revisions of my article "På sporet av en tapt fremtid" (roughly translating to "In search of a lost future") which is now accepted and forthcoming in Salongen - nettidsskrift for filosofi og idéhistorie. Moreover, I did some initial planning concerning my paper "Ecosemiotic questions: Towards a comprehensive description of the complexity and creativity of life", which has now been accepted (as a chapter proposal - cf. previous post) for inclusion in the book Creativity – Complexity – Intelligence, Semiotic Perspectives on the Emergence of Meaning (to appear in the book series "Palgrave Studies in Creativity and Culture") by the book´s editors (Merit Maran, Lauri Linask and Merja Bauters). 

This brings the number of writing days so far this Spring up to 23,5, including 17 article writing days and 6,5 book writing days.

Two more Live Better articles accepted for publication

These two articles from the Live Better project have been accepted for publication and are now forthcoming:

— forthcoming, with Ángel Sánchez Rodríguez et al. "Mind the Gap: Perceived Economic Inequality and the Well-Being Gap around the Globe". Social Psychological and Personality Science. 

— forthcoming, with Mateusz Olechowski et al. "Cultural religiosity moderates the relationship between being in love and subjective well-being". International Journal of Intercultural Relations.

I am credited as a co-author of both articles based on my data collection in Norway in the first wave of the Live Better project.

"What deep ecologist Arne Næss can teach us about the interdisciplinary nature of economics" accepted for presentation at ISQOLS 2025

I have been notified by the organizers of the 23rd Annual Conference of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS 2025), “Redefining Progress: Achieving Sustainable Well-being for All”, to be held in Luxembourg July 22-25th, that my paper submission "What deep ecologist Arne Næss can teach us about the interdisciplinary nature of economics" has been accepted for oral presentation. My paper will be based on a Norwegian-language article co-written with Jan Karlstrøm and Thomas Hylland Eriksen, and was submitted tied to the topic "Disciplinary Approaches to Well-Being, Happiness and Quality-of-life".

"Ecological semiotics" chapter accepted for publication in Encyclopedia of Ecology

I have been notified that my chapter "Ecological semiotics" has been accepted for publication in the 3rd edition of Elsevier´s Encyclopedia of Ecology (forthcoming in 2024/2025).

Article on Arne Næss´ philosophy of economics accepted for publication in Norsk Filosofisk Tidsskrift

We have just been notified that our article "Hva Arne Næss kan lære oss om økonomifagets tverrfaglighet" (What Arne Næss can teach us about the interdisciplinary nature of economics) has been accepted for publication in Norsk Filosofisk Tidsskrift. I have co-written the article along with Jan Karlstrøm and Thomas Hylland Eriksen.

Paper "Umwelt phenomenology, the human condition, and the nature crisis" accepted for presentation at 2024 IAEP virtual conference

I have been notified by the organizers of the 2024 virtual conference of IAEP, the Twenty-Eighth Annual Meeting of the International Association for Environmental Philosophy (IAEP), that my paper proposal "Umwelt phenomenology, the human condition, and the nature crisis" has been accepted for oral presentation. The conference takes place online May 22-24th.

Paper accepted for presentation at 24th gathering in biosemiotics; will attend digitally

I have been notified by the organizers of the 24th Gathering in biosemiotics, to take place in South Africa, that my paper "Applied Umwelt theory in the context of descriptive phenomenology and phenomenological triangulation" has been accepted for oral presentation. Due to a lack of funding, however, I will not be able to attend physically, but luckily there is a chance to attend digitally.

Yesterday and today I have had half a writing day, #17 this Autumn, with some feedback given on others´ text constributions to Mars and the Earthlings, and final editing of my forthcoming article "Wasted GDP in the USA", which has now been accepted in principle for publication in Humanities & Social Sciences Communications.

I have just been notified that my Commentary article "Making the Umwelt bubble of the Modern Synthesis burst" has been accepted for publication in Biosemiotics.

"How to solve the environmental crisis" article accepted by guest editors

I have been informed that my article "Anticipating the societal transformation required to solve the environmental crisis in the 21st century" has now been accepted by the guest editors of the special issue of Sign Systems Studies "Anticipation and change". The article will now be evaluated by the journal´s regular editors.

Paper abstract on CCS and climate justice approved for special issue

My paper abstract for a special issue of Norsk Filosofisk tidsskrift on climate ethics (cf. previous post) has been approved by the guest editors of the issue. The article will undergo normal peer-review procedures. The full-text manuscript of my paper "Karbonfangst og klimarettferdighet" (Carbon capture and climate justice) is due December 15th.

Article writing day with work done in relation to three articles

Today I have had a 6 hour, full article writing day, bringing total number of writing days this Spring up to 4,5. My work today was devoted to:

 - minor (formatting-focused) revision of my article "Current human ecology in the Amazon and beyond: A multi-scale ecosemiotic approach" (cf. post about conditional acceptance)

 - writing a bionote for The American Journal of Semiotics to accompany my accepted article (now in production) "What can be known about future Umwelten?"

- reading and taking notes for a minor revision of my article manuscript "Introducing a notion of accumulated GDP" (which I have decided to soon submit to a second journal)

Global/Amazon human ecology article revised once more; accepted

Today I was notified that the editorial decision on my revised version of "Current human ecology in the Amazon and beyond: A multi-scale ecosemiotic approach" is "Accept but incomplete - revise". I have already submitted a second revision.

Welfare article accepted for publication inJournal of comparative social work

My article "Human development, inequality and social risks in Latin America and the Nordic countries" has been accepted for publication in Journal of comparative social work. I twill appear in a special issue I´m co-editing on "Welfare in Latin America and the Nordic countries".
