#1; environmental semiotics chapter revised

Over the last four days I have completed what amounts to an article writing day, the first in the Autumn semester. In the process of taking part in revising the book chapter "Environmental Semiotics", which I co-write with Jonathan Beever, I added some 800 words to the manuscript (we also shortened the title). Moreover, I also composed five bullet points concerning practical implications related to the article "Friluftsliv in Therapeutic Residential Care: When Staff Take Youth Out to Find a Way In", which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland and which has since been published (cf. separate post).

"Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care" article published in Residential Treatment for Children & Youth

The article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in", which I have co-written as second author, has now been published. This is Joakim´s third article in his ph.d. thesis work, and the second article on use of friluftsliv in residential care (child protection) I have co-authored. The article is Open Access.

Second co-authored friluftsliv article accepted for journal publication

I have been notified that the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in", which I have co-authored with Joakim Jiri Haaland, has been accepted for publication.

Today I have had half an article writing day devoted to the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: When staff take youth out to find a way in", which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland in relation to his ph.d. thesis. This brings the number of writing days so far this Spring up to 43,5, including 26 article writing days.

All together I logged 4.835 words written in May, the most in a month so far this Spring. For now in 2026 I have logged 14.078 words written.

Today I have spent half an article writing day editing the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: When staff take youth out to find a way in", which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland. Hopefully this article is now completed. I also had a look at reviewer feedback on a rejected article from the "Live better" research consortium which I take part in. 

So far this Spring I have had 62 writing days, including 9 article writing days.

Today I have had an article writing day devoted to the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in" which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland, with some 300 words written in net terms. So far this Autumn I have had 6,5 writing days including 3 article writing days and 3,5 book writing days, with more than 4.000 words written altogether.

#40; Bloomsbury book contract for CCS book finalized

Today I have had an article writing day devoted to the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in", which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland, with some 1.100 words added to the text.

I also signed - again, and this time it was finalized on both ends - a book contract with Bloomsbury Academic for my book project Captured: CCS and the fight for the soul of the environmental movement, which I will write over the next 12 months.

Today I have had an article writing day devoted to contributing to the article "Friluftsliv in therapeutic residential care: Taking adolescents out to find a way in" which I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland, with some 350 words added to the text. I also received and considered a book contract offer for my book Captured: CCS and the fight for the soul of the environmental movement. So far this Spring I have had 37 writing days. 

In April, I logged 5.161 words written.

Today I have had a writing day, # 38,5 this Spring, mainly devoted to my article co-written with Joakim Jiri Haaland "Friluftsliv in child and youth care homes: Taking adolescents out to find a way in", with some 100 words added net.

Friluftsliv in child protection services article now published in issue

Our article on friluftsliv at residential care units has now been published as part of an issue - issue 3 in volume 43 of Child & Youth Services.

Today I have had an article writing day devoted to contributing to finishing the article now titled "Recreation in the outdoors – exploring the friluftsliv experience of adolescents at residential care" which I co-author with Joakim Jiri Haaland, my ph.d. student (first author). Some 100 words net were written in the process. Total number of writing days this Spring is up to 2.

Today I have had an article writing day, with some -500 words written net. I have looked through and made slight edits in the article now titled "Meaningful leisure in the outdoors – exploring the friluftsliv experience of adolescents at residential care", for which I am second author (first author is Joakim Jiri Haaland). I have also edited and shortened my article "Karbonfangst i lys av generasjonsrettferdighet" (CCS in light og generational justice). The former is now ready for resubmission; the latter has been resubmitted today.

Total number of writing days this Spring is up to 27,5.

Today I have had an article writing day devoted to contributing to the second revision of the article I co-write with Joakim Jiri Haaland on use of friluftsliv for youth in residential care. I wrote some 200 words, though that is hard to keep track of.

Half writing day

Today I have had half an article writing day devoted to work on the article I co-write with my Ph.d. student Joakim Jiri Haaland, now titled “Learning to fly again” – What can children in care`s experiences with friluftsliv tell us about the guidance they need to experience joyful leisure?"

IHSRC abstract accepted for presentation (Molde)

Joakim Jiri Haaland has been notified that our abstract for IHSRC 2019, to be held in Molde in June, has been accepted for oral presentation.
