4 meetings - and soon an end to hybrid teaching

Today I have attended four scheduled meetings. This included the Autumn´s second department leadership group meeting. After discussion on the meeting, I decided that the department will go back to physical teaching only starting next week, as national corona virus measures were mostly discontinued this weekend.

One and a half meeting and a guided tour

Today I have attended half an emergency preparedness meeting (covid-related), the weekly faculty leadership group meeting, and a guided tour for the faculty leadership at Kjell Arholms hus.

Today I have attended 5 meetings. This included the weekly faculty leadership group meeting, and a covid-related faculty meeting (also weekly).

Today I have had three meetings. This included the weekly faculty leadership group meeting, and a weekly covid-related meeting.

2020 work year redux

In 2020 I logged 2.790,5 work hours. This corresponds to 169% of a normal work year, and is the least I have worked since 2013, the first full year that I was a father. This was due to a combination of covid-19 circumstances and a month´s sick leave. My average work week was 53,4 hours, 5,5 hours less than in 2019.

I spent the most time on University of Stavanger tasks, ahead of research and "litterært" (book projects). The share of UIS tasks and "litterært" were both the highest in recorded memory (which goes back to 2009).

Norwegian animal ethics conference 2020 held

Yesterday, from Oslo, I was part of arranging the 2020 Norwegian animal ethics conference (Dyreetikkonferansen), with the theme "Velferd i isolasjonens tid" (Welfare in the time of isolation). The conference was this year held digitally, in Zoom. I was present in the "studio" at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute from where the conference was streamed and organized. Some 180 people followed the seminar online.

A meeting

Today I have attended the appointments committee meeting of Faculty of social sciences. Among the cases up for decision were applications for prolonged ph.d. tenure due to the corona virus pandemic.

Digital Ex.Phil.

Today I attended the first hour of the first Ex.phil. lecture this semester digitally, to have a look at my colleagues´ work and what the students are experiencing (I am not myself involved in teaching this semester). This included information about Ex.phil. this semester. Due to the corona virus pandemic, generally 2/3 of the students or so have to follow teaching digitally.

Back at work; digital semester opening

Today I am back from holidays. I have watched the digital University of Stavanger semester opening event from my living room couch.

Steffens conference in Copenhagen postponed until 2021

I have been informed that the conference «“…just as alluring as instructive…” – Henrik Steffens’ Concept of Nature in Science, Humanities and Arts around 1800», to be held at University of Copenhagen, has been postponed from October this year to October 2021 (specifically october 7-8th). I am an invited speaker for the event.

To present at virtual version of International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies 18th Annual Conference

Luckily, I have been notified by conference organizers that International Society for Quality-of- Life Studies 18th Annual Conference, which was to be held in physical format in Rotterdam, the Neterlands 25-28th, will be held in various virtual formats. I have communicated to the organizers that I would like to present my accepted paper "Wasted and wasteful growth in the USA" at a live joint-session webinar August 25-28th.

Three meetings and a work lunch - on campus

Today I have attended the first all-physical faculty leadership group meeting for three months; had a work lunch / supervision session; watched a digital staff meeting on UIS strategi; and attended a digital meeting in the research administration.

Two meetings, a pick-up and a corona test

Yesterday I attended the faculty leadership group meeting, picked up the outfit of the Dean in preparation of Thursday´s Ph.d. defence which I will chair, took a corona test, and attended the kick-off meeting of a work group established to plan for a cognitive lab at University of Stavanger.

At campus for first time in 2,5 months; two meetings

Today I went to the University of Stavanger´s Ullandhaug campus for the first time in 2,5 months. By now up to 50% of employees are allowed to be present at any time, but far fewer are normally present, with extensive use of home office still.

I attended a faculty leadership meeting at campus. Later in the day, being back home at my home office, I attended an online inter-faculty meeting related to allocation of recruitment positions.

ISQOLS 2020 cancelled

I have been notified that the 2020 conference of the International Society for Quality-of-life Studies (ISQOLS), planned for Rotterdam August 25-28 has been cancelled, at least in the initially planned format.

IAEP conference cancelled

I have been notified that the annual conference of the International Association for Environmental Philosophy (IAEP), planned for Toronto 10-11 October, has been cancelled, at least in that format and at that location.

Autumn semester discussion in faculty´s emergency preparedness group

Today we had another meeting in the emergency preparedness group at Faculty of social sciences, to tentatively discuss possible plans for the autumn semester.

Lederforum attended

Today I have attended University of Stavanger´s (digital) leadership forum (Lederforum) (in Zoom). The forum was predominantly about the discruptions the corona virus has inflicted upon us.
