A meeting, a ph.d. supervision session, and first day of faculty leadership gathering

Yesterday I had a ph.d. supervision session, attended the CubaNor steering group meeting, and attended the first day of the faculty leadership group´s gathering at Hotell Jæren, Bryne.

Yesterday I attended a social event in relation to the exchange of two Cuban master students within the NORPART project Cuban and Nordic welfare.

Two meetings and performance appraisal

Today I have attended a planning meeting about the faculty´s Academic day (Fagdag), and a steering group meeting for the NORPART project CubaNor. I have also had my annual performance appraisal with the Dean of the faculty, Gro Ellen Mathisen.

A forum and a meeting

Today I attended the biannual "Lederforum" (leadership forum) at University of Stavanger, which was focussed on strategy. I also attended a meeting of the steering group for the NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" (our first since this Spring).

3 meetings and supervision

Today I have attended a meeting in the steering committee for the NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic Welfare", chaired a meeting with leaders of program areas for research, had a research career consultation (as Vice-Dean of research) and had a PhD supervision session.

Last day in Havana

Friday: This was the fifth and last work day in Havana, in relation to our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic Welfare". All days we have worked with our partners from University of Havana´s Department of sociology. It has been a really nice stay both with regard to work and otherwise.

Second work day in Havana

Today, during our visit to Havana, we have discussed the format of e-compendiums, met with the first secretary at Norway´s embassy in Cuba, and visited a communitarian project in Old Havana. We also met the Dean at University of Havana.

In Havana to work on NORPART project

Yesterday I took off from Sola airport, in the Stavanger area, and some 13-14 hours later I landed, after a second flight, in Havana, Cuba. We are 6 people from University of Stavanger in Havana this week in relation to our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" where Universidad de la Habana is our partner institution.

Today I have attended an administrative meeting in relation to our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" and our trip to Cuba next week.

Two meetings today

First the leadership group at UiS Faculty of social sciences, then a planning meeting in the NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" ahead of our trip to Havana in a couple of weeks.

NORPART meeting

Today I have attended a meeting on our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare", with participation from NettOp, The University of Stavangers IT development unit, focussed in the main on preliminary planning of development of teaching materials.

Cuba seminar chaired

Today I chaired a half-day seminar on developments on Cuba, in relation to our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" (2019-2023), featuring a lecture by political scientist Vegard Bye, "Cuba from Castro to post-Castro", and presentation of the NORPART project by project leader Siv Oltedal. Some 18 people attended.

Cuban exchange project featured in UiS intranet news story

There is a news story today on University of Stavanger´s intranett titled "Cubansk utvekslingssamarbeid" featuring the NORPART project I am involved in as member of the Steering Committee. The article features an image from our visit to Havana in January.

First NORPART meeting

Another meeting I attended today, with two department colleagues, was a first planning meeting on our new NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" (effective from January 1st 2019).

NORPART application "Cuban and Nordic welfare" successful

Yesterday we got to know that our project application "Cuban and Nordic welfare" will be funded by Norwegian Partnership Programme for Global Academic Cooperation (NORPART), with some 5 million crowns, for the period 2019-2023. This is first of all a student exchange and educational collaboration project. The project involves collaboration between University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies and University of Havana´s Department of sociology.

Our project is the only one with a partner in Latin America, and one of two projects awarded to University of Stavanger.

I took active part in the application work, and am one of 12 members of the project´s "Academic Collaboration Group" (7 from Stavanger) and one of 5 members (3 from Stavanger) in the project´s Steering Committee.

NORPART application submitted

This morning we have submitted our NORPART application to Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Education (SIU). Some 22 pages of application text. Siv Oltedal is prospective Project leader, with Angela Peña as Cuban Project leader and me among the Steering Committee members (totaling 5members).

Nettop meeting

Today I attended a meeting at NettOp, the UiS unit for e-learning, in connection with our NORPART application work involving Cuba.

Today I have attended a meeting concerning our NORPART application (collaboration with University of Havana). The application is due this Thursday. I made some text work this weekend, more is to come the next few days.
