Website for Havana "Comparative welfare" conference

A website has now been launched for the conference Comparative Welfare - People´s experience of the welfare system, which will take place in Havana, Cuba, on November 27th - December 1st. I am a keynote speaker, along with 9 others from Norway, Cuba, South Africa and Costa Rica.

Web page for Cognitive lab at UIS

Cognitive lab at the University of Stavanger is now online - with a Norwegian and an English version (technically a news story; since UIS is in the process of launching new web pages later this autumn). I am one of six contact persons for the lab.

A ph.d. defence chaired - and a meeting attended

Today I have chaired a ph.d. defence for the third time. The candidate was Steinar Vee Henriksen, who defended his thesis "Norwegian police training for and use of force". He also gave the trial lecture "Theories and approaches to simulation-based training of critical decision-making at the sharp end". At the end of the day he was a doctor. The committee consisted of Kerstin Eriksson, Mikkel Bøhm and Morten Sommer. Some 35 people attended the digital ph.d. defence.

Later in the day I attended a meeting in the faculty administration related to presentation of research activities on new webpages which are to launch in October.

Among top 1% on Academia.edu

Academia.edu has notified me that I am right now among the 1% top researchers by 30-day views (39 profile views, 389 document views, 279 unique visitors).

A webpage for our NORPART project "Cuban and Nordic welfare" (2019-2023) has now been launched - see here. More info is to follow. The page sorts under the University of Stavanger´s overview page on research in health and welfare.

Wikipedia page on Biosemiotics

There is a Wikipedia page - a stub - on the journal Biosemiotics, for which I have been an Editor-in-Chief since 2013. The info on Impact Factor is outdated.

Field work summary on wolves soon online

Today I have entered University of Stavanger´s web publishing tool, CorePublish, for the first time for a couple of years or so, and uploaded a popular science summary of field work (in Norwegian) carried out as part of the research project "Animals in changing environments" (to Norwegian-version website only), specifically as part of the subproject "Representations (both Problematic and Romanticizing) of Large Mammals, especially Wolves".

I have made some updates on the webpage of the Nordic Association for Semiotic Studies (NASS), including uploading the latest newsletter (Spring 2017), and the list of current board members.

Norwegian animal erhics conference webpage updated

I have updated the webpage of the Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference with the 2017 theme and date - "Ulv, ulv!", November 21st 2017.

Estonian webpage of "Animals in changing environments" updated

The Estonian webpage (in English) of the Norwegian-Estonian Research Cooperation Programme grant EMP151 "Animals in changing environments: Cultural mediation and semiotic analysis" has been updated with further information, summing up research done in the project.
