This brings the number of writing days so far this Spring up to 20, including 14 article writing days.

#33,5

Today I have had an article writing day, mostly devoted to writing a brief popular science article for the magazine Astronomi published by Norsk Astronomisk Selskap. It came in at around 1.500 words, and I ended up titling it "Livet på Mars" (Life on Mars). The content is loosely based on our recently published book Mars and the Earthlings: A realistic view on Mars exploration and settlement. I also looked into a recent Live better manuscript submission (cf. previous post).

So far this Spring I have had 33,5 writing days, including 6,5 article writing days.

Keynes essay "2119" written and submitted to essay competition

Yesterday I wrote an essay entitled "2119" for an essay competition called by Norwegian daily Klassekampen and the Stavanger-based economics festival Kåkånomics. The framing of the competition is what the economy will look like in a hundred years (as Keynes discussed some 90 years ago).

Record turnout at Arne Næss Kunnskapstørst event

Yesterday I delivered the paper "Hadde Arne Næss rett om miljøkrisen?" (Was Arne Næss right about the environmental crisis?) at Måltidets hus under the banner of Kunnskapstørst and Forskningsdagene. Some 40 people attended - from what I am told, this is the biggest turnout to date for a Kunnskapstørst event in the Stavanger region.

Some 26.000 words written on "Utslippsfrie nye verden?" manuscript

In 2018, I wrote some 26.430 words on my book manuscript Utslippsfrie nye verden? Karbonfangst i lys av norsk økofilosofi (Emission-free new world? Carbon capture and storage in light of Norwegian ecophilosophy). In comparison, I wrote 19.459 words on this manuscript in 2016 (autumn), and 5.142 words in 2017 (when I took a break with this manuscript to work on the collective popular science monograph Ulvetider, with Lars Lenth and Petter Bøckman, which was published autumn 2017). Total word count is now 58.089. Judging by length alone, I should be able to finish the manuscript in 2019.

Christmas time, wolf and wine...

Lars Lenth, with whom I co-wrote the book Ulvetider (along with Petter Bøckman), is featured in a page-long interview on p. 2 in today´s edition of national Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen, titled "-Kampen ingen kan vinne" (The fight no-one can win). The interview is, of course, focussed on wolves, as the annual hunting season is approaching - which is one of the reasons (besides the annual incidents of sheep predation each summer) why wolf interest fluctuates in seasonal manners. Our book is mentioned.
