From 50 to 70% contract with Department of social studies; all in all 100% workload and pay at UiS this academic year

I originally had a 50% contract at University of Stavanger's Department of Social Studies when I formally started August 1st last year, but by September I had agreed to increase the percentage to 70% with effect from September 1st (until July 31st 2015). As it turned out, my responsibilities amounted to more than the contract we had signed. My work plan has later been somewhat adjusted, but remained essentially the same, with responsibility mainly for the department´s Examen Philosophicum (SVEXPHIL10) and the bachelor thesis in social work, plus 40% research time.

With agreements on grading of exam papers in Examen Philosophicum at Department of Health Studies (SVEXPHIL2) and the 10% employment in the research project "Animals in changing environments" (EMP151), my total work load and pay at UiS adds up to 100% this academic year.

Today and yesterday I have composed exam questions for two multiple choice exams to take place at University of Stavanger next week - course codes SVEXPHIL-2 (Examen Philosophicum at Department of health studies, postponed/extraordinary exam) and SVEXPHIL-10 (Examen Philosophicum at Department of social studies, regular exam).

Meeting with student representatives

Yesterday I attended a meeting with the elected representatives (tillitsvalgte) of the 4 classes of nursing students at University of Stavanger's Department of health studies, along with two other teachers, each of us responsible for each our subjects (in my case Examen Philosophicum).

Teaching, September 30th

This Monday I taught for 4 hours in Examen Philosophicum, the introductory course in philosophy at University of Stavanger's Department of health studies. First 2 hours of teacher-assisted group work, then 2 hours of lectures on normative ethics, more specifically virtue ethics and /ethics of care/ (nærhetsetikk, with Levinas and Løgstrup).

Teaching at UiS 16/9: Group work and academic writing

This Monday I taught for 4 hours at University of Stavanger's Department of health studies, in the course in introductory philosophy (SVEXPHIL-2). While group work assisted by me was on the agenda for the first, second (topic: phenomenology and hermeneutics) and fourth hour (writing-related), in the third hour I gave the second part of my course in academic writing.
