I am mentioned among the University of Stavanger´s participants on stage at the Wonderful World festival, a science and philosophy festval that is held for the third time this week, May 28th to 31st (Wednesday to Saturday). On the university´s open webpage the news story/event page is titled "Wonderful World", on the university intranet it is titled "Rabatt på dagspass for UiS-ansatte på Wonderful World". The article is written by Karen Anne Okstad.

I am in the program council for the festival, and will take part on stage in four events this week.

Yesterday I discovered another Khrono news story featuring me, titled "Massiv kritikk mot ledelsens ønske om kutt i forskningstid" (Massive criticism of leadership´s desire for reduced research time) and featuring a citation from me as well as a photo (by Tord Paulson) and link to the news story featuring an interview with me published February 28th. This news story was published April 17th and was written by Hege Larsen. It mostly concerns hearing statements concerning the suggested work planning guidelines.

Cognitive lab: Updated homepage; news story on the establishment of steering group and working committee

The Norwegian language homepage of Cognitive lab has been updated.I am listed as chair of the steering group. The full steering group is presented in a PDF.

16 recruitment positions allocated to UIS; Cognitive Lab referred in new UIS news story

Yesterday the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research issued a press release with some details on the distribution of the 4.000 study places and 250 recruitment positions that is proposed added in relation to the revised state budget. University of Stavanger gets 250 study places and 16 recruitment positions.

In an UIS news story titled "Utdanningsløftet gir god uttelling for UIS" (the UIS gets good share of education measure), Vice rector for research Merete Vadla Madland comments on the 16 recruitment positions, emphasizing plans for establishing a cognitive lab (in which I have been involved).

The UIS news story "UIS ønsker flere studieplasser og rekrutteringsstillinger" (University of Stavanger wants more study places and recruitment positions) makes mention of the Cognitive Lab I have suggested to establish at the university, following our faculty´s visit to University of Twente last autumn. The university has communicated to the Ministry of Education and Research that a number of recruitment positions (ph.d. and post.doc.s) could be established this autumn in relation to the establishment of such a lab. The proposal has been made in relation to Norway´s revised state budget for 2020.

Records for publication points at UIS; Faculty of social sciences

The University of Stavanger is credited with more publication points than ever before, for 2019, cf. news story. 1298 points for the university as a whole. Faculty of social sciences did particularly well compared to 2018, with an increase from 89 to 126 publication points.

Nationally UIS is no. 3 measured by publication points per scholar among the bigger institutions, only behind University of Oslo and University of Bergen. UIS had 1,36 points per scholar in 2019.

Today I was interviewed for a UiS news story that will be published shortly, in relation to the fact that I have been appointed as Vice-Dean of Research at University of Stavanger´s Faculty of Social Sciences, effective from January 1st 2019 and for two years.

I was first contacted by the Dean Tuesday this week, had a meeting with her on Wednesday, and was formally appointed by the rector of UiS, Marit Boyesen, on Thursday. So for the next two years I will be devoting 50% of my work time to my role as Vice-Dean for Research, and will have 50% for research.
