Today I was interviewed live, along with veterinarian Stine Gismervik, on NRK P2´s Verdibørsen (national public radio), in the segment "Fiskevelferd og språk" (Fish welfare and language). Program host was Anne Bøhler. The program can be heard here. The segment lasts some 20 minutes.

Fish welfare chronicle linked to in new Aftenposten chronicle

The chronicle "Fiskelykke?" [fish happiness?], written by Tore Kristiansen and me and published in Aftenposten August 2014, is linked to as relevant reading in relation to the online publication of Siri Martinsen´s chronicle in Aftenposten "Fisken - det usynlige dyret" [the fish - the invisible animal], published June 6th.

Chronicle on fish happiness linked to under NGO Aftenposten chronicle

On October 28th Siri Martinsen, head of the Norwegian NGO "NOAH - for animal rights" had a chronicle published in Aftenposten entitled "Ingen dyr skal måtte leve i bur" [No animal should have to live in cages]. One of the three links provided after the chronicle text online (under Les også, Read also) is to a chronicle written by Tore Kristiansen and me, "Fiskelykke?" [Luck in fishing/fish happiness?], here presented as "Levende fisk fårstrupe og mage skåret opp uten at de er bedøvet" ["Live fish gets throat and stomach cut open without being sedated".

Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference on fish welfare featured in Nationen commentary

21st of August the Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference (Dyreetikkonferansen) on fish welfare was featured in a 1-page commentary in the Norwegian daily newspaper Nationen, which is known as the farmers' newspaper. The commentary, by Michael Brøndbo, was entitled "Fisken og dens følelsesliv" (The fish and its emotional life).

Here, on the homepage of the Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference, is this year's press release, "Dyreetikkonferansen tar opp dobbeltmoral om fisk" [the Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference addresses double standards concerning fish]. The press release, which was posted online a day or so before the conference (which took place in Trondheim August 20th), features some statements by me as Chair of Minding Animals Norway as well as statements from Tore Kristiansen and Kristian Bjørkdahl.

On August 20th The Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference (Dyreetikkonferansen) 2014, which is co-organised by Minding Animals Norway, was featured on national broadcaster NRK P1's afternoon program "Her og nå", with interviews with Tore Kristiansen and Gudbrand Bakken. Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference 2014 featured in 2-page portrait

The Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference (Dyreetikkonferansen) 2014, which was co-arranged by Minding Animals Norway, is featured in the 2-page "Framsnakk" weekly portrait of Saturday August 16th, published in Ukeadressa, a supplement to the regional daily newspaper Adresseavisen. The portrait featured Susanna Lybæk (scientific advisor in the Norwegian Animal Protection Alliance), who spoke at the conference. The conference had fish sentience and welfare as topic, and this is also the focus of the portrait.

The Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference (Dyreetikkonferansen) 2014 is featured in the news article "Krever en mer human avliving" [Demands a more humane killing/slaughter], published online by NRK Trøndelag. The article includes interviews with Tore Kristiansen and Gudbrand Bakken, who were both speaking at the conference, which had fish welfare (and sentience) as topic.

The Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference is co-founded and co-arranged by Minding Animals Norway.

Panel discussion on fish welfare chaired

Yesterday I chaired the panel discussion at the Norwegian Animal Ethics Conference 2014 (Dyreetikkonferansen 2014), with the theme "Fiskelykke" [fish happiness/welfare]. The panel discussion, which lasted for some 75 minutes, involved Aud Skrudland (The Norwegian Food Safety Authority), Tore Kristiansen (Norway's Institute of Marine Research), Henrik Stenwig (Norwegian Seafood Federation) and Susanna Lybæk (Norwegian Animal Protection Alliance), and contributions from the audience.

The program, which spans over 4 hours, includes presentations by Tore Kristiansen, Henrik Stenwig and Susanna Lybæk.
