My dissemination piece "Ulv og sau - et naturlig par?" [Wolf and sheep - a natural couple?] was rejected by Aftenposten Innsikt, but has since been shortened somewhat and submitted elsewhere.

I have just composed a chronicle of sorts, entitled "Ulv og sau - et naturlig par?" [Wolf and sheep - a natural couple?], submitted to Norwegian daily newspaper Aftenposten for their Innsikt section.

Fish welfare chronicle linked to in new Aftenposten chronicle

The chronicle "Fiskelykke?" [fish happiness?], written by Tore Kristiansen and me and published in Aftenposten August 2014, is linked to as relevant reading in relation to the online publication of Siri Martinsen´s chronicle in Aftenposten "Fisken - det usynlige dyret" [the fish - the invisible animal], published June 6th.

National daily Aftenposten cites chronicle on petroleum research

In a news article published by the national daily Aftenposten January 17th, "Derfor bruker de lang tid på å finne ny Statoilsjef" [This is why they take so long finding a new Statoil boss], I am cited, in a caption, as stating that the tax refund arrangements for oil drilling makes research collaborations between universities and private companies parodic.

Chronicle on fish happiness linked to under NGO Aftenposten chronicle

On October 28th Siri Martinsen, head of the Norwegian NGO "NOAH - for animal rights" had a chronicle published in Aftenposten entitled "Ingen dyr skal måtte leve i bur" [No animal should have to live in cages]. One of the three links provided after the chronicle text online (under Les også, Read also) is to a chronicle written by Tore Kristiansen and me, "Fiskelykke?" [Luck in fishing/fish happiness?], here presented as "Levende fisk fårstrupe og mage skåret opp uten at de er bedøvet" ["Live fish gets throat and stomach cut open without being sedated".

Letter to the editor addressed to two conservative MPs: "In the oil mist"

On December 12th last year I had a letter to the editor published in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, Norway's biggest daily newspaper, titled "I oljetåken" [in the oil mist]. The letter to the editor was written in response to a letter to the editor published December 10th, written by two conservative MPs and entitled «Uten petroleumsforskning stopper Norge» [Without petroleum research, Norway stops]. Their letter was in turn written in reply to my December 2nd chronicle in the same newspaper, "Hva slags forskning er etisk forsvarlig?" [What kind(s) of research is ethically justifiable?].

Two more members of parliament respond to chronicle on petroleum research

In today's Aftenposten (Norway's biggest daily), members of parliament (the Conservatives) Siri A. Meling and Kristin Vinje responds to my chronicle "Hva slags forskning er etisk forsvarlig?" [What kind(s) of research is ethically justifiable?], which was published Monday December 2nd, with a Letter to the editor entitled «Uten petroleumsforskning stopper Norge» [Without petroleum research, Norway stops]. The two parliamentarians claim that petroleum research is not problematic in ethical terms, and that the petroleum sector benefits both the poor and the (Norwegian) rich. 

On student radio discussing petroleum research with student leader

Wednesday this week, following my chronicle in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, "Hva slags forskning er etisk forsvarlig?" [What kind(s) of research is ethically justifiable?], I was interviewed by Radio Nova, Oslo's student radio. More specifically, I discussed the student organisation's (Studentparlamentets) views on petroleum research conducted by the University of Oslo with Gabrielle Legrand Gjerdset, the head of UiO's student organisation. The interview and/or debate featured in the program "Emneknaggen", a debate program hosted by Adrian Nyhammer Olsen.

Member of parliament (Green Party) responds to chronicle on petroleum research

In a letter to the editor entitled "Kunnskap for fremtidens Norge" [Knowledge for the future Norway], Rasmus Hansson, a member of parliament representing the Green Party of Norway, refers to my chronicle "Hva slags forskning er etisk forsvarlig?" [What kind(s) of research is ethically justifiable?], which was published in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten Monday this week. Hansson writes that the Green Party in their alternative government budget proposes to increase research supporting green reorganization of society, including renewable energy, and to reduce petroleum investments, research and subsidies.

In a letter to the editor in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, Norway's biggest daily, Tore Killingland, Director for strategy and environment in the Norwegian Oil & Gas Association, indirectly refers to my letter to the editor "Oljekutt og regneferdigheter" [Oil cut and numeracy skills], published June 27th, given that he refers to (my translation) the fact that "Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Kjetil Lund has had several replies to his letter to the editor in Aftenposten June 25th about Statistics Norway's work paper/discussion memo on oil cut as a climate measure". Killingland's letter to the editor is entitled "Oljekutt og virkeligheten [Oil cut and reality]", and focuses on arguing for the climate benefits of burning natural gas.

Wolf piece published today - chronicle around the corner

My letter to the editor "Ulv, ulv!" [Wolf! Wolf!] was published today in the Norwegian national daily Aftenposten, in response to the daily's frontpage story this Monday. A full-text version of the text appears in my Norwegian-language blog Utopisk Realisme.

What's more, yesterday I finished my invited chronicle "Hvem er villest i landet her? - Et ulveliv" [Who's the wildest in the country here? - A wolf's life] for the weekly news magazine Ny Tid. This is the most thourough account I've given on wolf management so far in Norwegian. The chronicle, which is in part based on my article in Humanimalia, will appear this Friday.
