Two Wonderful World events attended on stage, on Mars exploration and personhood

Today I have taken part in two events at the Wonderful World festival which is being held May 28-31st in Stavanger, Norway.

First, I took part in the panel discussion «Kom Mars du skjønne milde», on exploration of and travel to Mars, with Brage W. Johansen and UIS colleague Alex Nielsen. The event was chaired by Johanne Pontoppidan Tuxen, and attended by about 45 people.

Then somewhat later I took part in the event «Er alle egentlig bare én person?» (Are everybody really the same person?), which featured an introduction by Hedda Hassel Mørch, and a discussion between her, me and Terje Sparby. The event was chaired by Jostein Gjertsen, and attended by about 70 people.

Interviewed on wolf and sheep cultural imagery on regional radio

Today I was interviewed live on regional radio, in the NRK P1 program "Lokalen" by NRK Rogaland. The interview was featured under the headline «Har ulven alltid vært skummel? Filosof Morten Tønnessen» (Has the wolf always been scary? Philosopher Morten Tønnessen). The journalists in the studio was Jostein Gjertsen and Øystein Otterdal. The context for the interview is that a wolf is currently in the south of the region and has reportedly killed three sheep.

Radio interview on and while walking aired again on NRK P2

On Thursday this week, November 4th, an interview with me on walking and Henry David Thoreau was aired again on Norwegian national radio (Studio 2, NRK P2), under the heading "Trær forteller" (Trees tell). Link to program here. Journalist: Jostein Gjertsen.

4 meetings and a radio interview

Today I have attended the faculty leadership group meeting, a meeting related to Network for welfare research, the monthly meeting of the doctoral committee (which I chair), and a regular research administration meeting. I was also interviewed by NRK journalist Jostein Gjertsen for NRK P2´s Studio 2, on the topic of the atomic bomb´s impact in philosophy.

Interview on future population decline aired on NRK P2´s Verdibørsen

Last Saturday, August 15th, I was featured with an interview in NRK P2s program Verdibørsen, "Er færre mennesker på Jorden en gladsak?" (Are fewer humans on Earth good news?). The journalist and program host was Jostein Gjertsen.

Verdibørsen interview on population decline

Today I have been interviewed by Jostein Gjertsen for a Verdibørsen program that will air on NRK P2 this Saturday. The topic for the interview was scenarios and visions for population decline in this century and beyond.

Sixth Verdibørsen appearance this year - on aquaculture

Today I appeared on NRK P2´s Verdibørsen for the sixth time this year, in the segment "Oppdrettsfisk i entall". I was interviewed, along with Lisa Bergan (Cermaq) and Øyvind Håbrekke (the think tank Skaperkraft), by Karen Frivik. Program host was Jostein Gjertsen.

In the program I am presented as working at "Høyskolen i Agder" (the University college of Agder - which became the University of Agder some 10 years ago), but in fact I work at the University of Stavanger.

Interview on colonization of Mars aired again

An interview with Ingvil Hellstrand and myself aired this Spring titled "Muligheten av Mars" (The opportunity of Mars). It was aired again, in a new program setting, yesterday, now titled "Er Mars menneskets siste mulighet?" (Is Mars humanity´s last chance?). Jostein Gjertsen was program host at both occasions. Altogether this is the third time the interview aired, since it was aired a second time in Spring as part of the program´s weekend summary.

Verdibørsen interview on "humanity in puberty" aired

An interview with me aired on Verdibørsen earlier today, titled "Menneskeheten i puberteten" (Humanity in puberty). In the interview I relate to Arne Næss´ thoughts about war and peace and the long-term maturing of humanity, admit to occasionally longing for a new civilization, and identify as a liberal deep ecologist. Program host Jostein Gjertsen presents the interview as Verdibørsen´s contribution to Forskningsdagene, an event which this year has "oppvekst" (childhood, upbringing) as theme.

Terraforming Mars? Discussion aired on P2´s Verdibørsen

On March 22nd NRK P2´s Verdibørsen, with program host Jostein Gjertsen, included a 25 minute feature with me and Ingvil Førland Hellstrand entitled "Muligheten av Mars", on terraforming Mars. Podcast is available here.
