Our book chapter "Introduction: The semiotics of animal representations", authored by me and Kadri Tüür, from the book The semiotics of animal representations (Rodopi - now Brill, 2014) has reached 4.000 reads at ResearchGate.

Publication date for framing the environmental humanities book

I have been informed that the book Framing the Environmental Humanities, where I contribute with the chapter "Animals in Norwegian Political Party Programs: A Critical Reading" (see reference), will be released (not in April, but) February 22nd. ISBS general meeting attended; mentions of some of my work

Today I attended the Annual Meeting of the ISBS, the International Society for Biosemiotic Studies, held at the 16th gathering of biosemiotics. The meeting included an announcement, by Don Favareau, of the first Biosemiotic Achievement Award (for 2015). In the President´s address, Kalevi Kull mentioned several works I have been involved in one way or another, including, among ten recent books he mentioned, The semiotics of animal representations (Rodopi 2014) and Thinking about animals in the age of the Anthropocene (Lexington Books 2016), both of which I have co-edited - and this blog.

Some 25 people were present.

Today I have finished revising the book chapter "A critical reading of mentions of animals in Norwegian political party programs" (see also previous posts).

The Semiotics of Animal Representations (Rodopi 2014, eds. Kari Tüür and myself) was on display at Minding Animals Conference 3 (Delhi, India, January 13-20th), at the booth of the organiser Wildlife Trust of India, along with discount flyers prepared for the occasion of the conference.

Work title and publication year of Studies in Environmental Humanities volume

The book volume which is to be published in Rodopi's series "Studies in Environmental Humanities", where I will contribute with a chapter work-titled "A Critical Reading of the Mentions of Animals in Political Party Programs", has the work title "Framing Nature". The book will be published in 2016 (not 2015 as I was previously informed).

I have accepted an invitation to contribute with a book chapter to an edited collection based on presentations from the "Framing nature: Signs, Stories and Ecologies of Meaning" conference (Tartu, April 29 - May 3 2014 - see previous posts), where I presented the paper "Animals Qua Sentient Beings vs. Animals Qua Resources: A Critical Reading of the Mentions of Animals in Norwegian Political Party Programs". The book, which is to be edited by Hannes Bergthaller and Peter Mortensen, will appear in 2015 in Rodopi's new book series "Studies in Environmental Humanities".

A full manuscript is due March 1st 2015. Work title for my chapter is "A Critical Reading of the Mentions of Animals in Political Party Programs".

The Semiotics of Animal Representations on display in London; now missing

To the 14th Gathering in biosemiotics (London June 30 - July 4), I had brought a copy of The Semiotics of Animal Representations, which I have co-edited with Kadri Tüür, as a display copy, along with discount flyers designated for the conference. After three days on display, however, the book went missing. I need it back, so that it can be displayed on at least two more conferences.

I received my copy of The Semiotics of Animal Representations, which I have co-edited with Kadri Tüür, on June 28th, as I stopped by at home after hiking in the mountains and before heading for London for the 14th Gathering in biosemiotics.

Norwegian online bookstores sell TSOAR for 108 EUR

The Norwegian online bookstore Bokklubben sells the edited collection The Semiotics of Animal Representations for 900 NOK (108 Euro with today's exchange rate). So does Bokkilden.no. In comparison, Rodopi's (the publisher's) price is €80.

Today I received electronic offprint of the introduction chapter to The Semiotics of Animal Representations (for which I am one of two editors), and various other material including first pages and various order/recommendation forms, from Rodopi, the publisher. I assume the other contributors did so too. The message stated that the book (or rather, my contribution) has now been published.
