CRISTIN registrations for 2024: 39 posts; overview

I have just completed registrations in the Current Research Information System in Norway (CRISTIN) for 2024 (cf. my profile in CRISTIN). I registered 39 posts; all-time I have now registered 395 posts (since 2012, i.e. over 13 years, which means on average 30-31 posts per year). This is quite many posts though not quite as many as in 2019, when I registered 44 posts.

The activities I registered included 9 scientific publications, 7 of which should give "publication points" in the Norwegian system. This includes 2 book chapters I wrote by myself, 3 co-written book chapters in the book Mars and the Earthlings, and 2 full-length journal articles, one of which I wrote by myself and 1 I co-authored, as well as a short communication and a co-authored editorial for a special issue I was one of the guest editors of. 

Other activities included 4 festival appearances (on Wonderful world and Kåkånomics, both in Stavanger),  2 radio interviews, 3 interviews in Khrono, 5 scientific conference presentations (3 of which online, 2 in-person), 3 guest lectures (2 in Italy, 1 in Slovenia), and 1 co-authored consultative statement written for Norway´s Council for animal ethics.

Cristin: 24 posts in 2022; 317 altogether

I have just completed registration of academic activities in Cristin, the Current research information system in Norway (cf. my Cristin profile) - 24 posts. This includes:

* 5 scientific texts (2 book chapters, 1 co-written article, 1 commentary, 1 Festschrift contribution)

* 5 conference talks

* 4 chronicles

* 4 interviews

For 2021 I had 19 posts. Altogether I now have 317 posts since I started registering in Cristin in 2012.

Popular science summary of field work findings to appear late autumn

Since the research project "Animals in changing environments: Cultural mediation and semiotic analysis" has been prolonged from April 30th to December 31st, the popular scientific summary of our field work including interviews will only be composed and made public late this autumn (not this Spring as originally planned). Today I communicated this fact to the interviewees.

Moss interviews to be conducted at Moss library

Today I have arranged a locality for field work interviews to be conducted in Moss, Østfold, next week (May 28th and 29th). The interviews will take place at Moss library.

Field trip dates rescheduled

Today I met with my colleague Paul Thibault to reschedule field trip dates for our work related to human perception of wolves and related animals, in the research project "Animals in changing environments: Cultural mediation and semiotic analysis" (EMP151), specifically the case study "Representations (both Problematic and Romanticizing) of Large Mammals, especially Wolves". The field trips will take place in April, May and June.

Academic reporting 2013 - CRIStin

A couple of days ago I reported my publications, conference presentations and media appearances in 2013 to CRIStin, Current Research Information System In Norway. My reporting, which sorts under University of Stavanger, included 30 activities (vs. 18 in 2012), namely

• Eleven academic publications (three of them co-written) including a co-edited book, book chapters, a preface, journal articles, and two book reviews
• One report
• Seven scientific presentations in international conferences/seminars/workshops
• Two guest lectures
• Eight media appearances (interviews)

Up to 6 of the publications will count in the Norwegian publication point system.

Rendalen report

I have not yet reported from my field trip to Rendalen municipality in the Norwegian region of Hedmark, cf. post on plans (but the visit has already triggered both reflection and academic production, cf. my article 'Visjon 2040' and my research seminar presentation on the nature view and worldview of people in Rendalen).

The trip took place October 28 - November 2nd. The most important work carried out consisted in conducting 8 interviews, with:

• Consultant, agrigulture

• STOR-ELVDAL municipality

• Head of section for planning and business

• Head of RENDALEN REN (reindeer)

• Sheep farmer (and NGO representative), Rendalen

• Former sheep farmer couple, Rendalen

• State licenced wolf hunter, Stor-Elvdal

In Rendalen, I was particularly pleased to hear about ROSAREN, a project designed to look into the potential for local business dependent on, or not in conflict with, the presence of big carnivores including wolves.
