In Oslo

It has been quite a day. I flew for the first time in a year. The flight (Stavanger > Oslo) was three-four hours late. I had a meeting with an editor at Universitetsforlaget (Scandinavian University Press) to discuss my book project Captured: CCS and the fight for the soul of the environmental movement, and then met with a scholar with which I have common research interests. Also, it is election day in Norway.

Heading for Mexico

I am about to board a plane heading for Amsterdam, after which I will transfer to a plane for Mexico City, where the 4th international Minding Animals Conference is held January 17-24th.

Finally in Paris for inequality conference

I have finally arrived in Paris, at the global inequality conference of the Paris School of Economics. The very first World Inequality Report was launched this morning - but I missed that, since my flight yesterday from Stavanger to Oslo was delayed some 2 hours, making me miss my next flight, for Paris. But now, via Stockholm, I am here at last.

Travel complications for Brighton staff trip

Our return from England to Norway last Friday did not happen quite as planned. Our bus broke down a 15 minutes drive from Gatwick. Taxis were ordered, but took so long to get there, apparently due to miscommunication, that we (meaning a group of 14 I was in) did not get to the airport in time for our flight to Stavanger. We ended up staying the night at Holliday Inn Gatwick, and the next morning I joined the taxi to Heathrow along with the others before flying, on my own, to Kristiansand via Amsterdam.
