MA press release composed and distributed

This night I composed and distributed a press release from Minding Animals Norway, announcing that Bergljot Børresen was given the Minding Animals Norway Award 2015 at Dyreverndagen (the Norwegian Animal Protection Day). Cf. also yesterday´s post.

Minding Animals Award 2015 to Bergljot Børresen

On Saturday March 21st, during Dyreverndagen (the Norwegian Animal Protection Day) at DogA in Oslo, the Norwegian Minding Animals Award 2015 was presented. Being the Chair of Minding Animals Norway, I was presenting the award on behalf of the jury. The prize, which consisted of an artwork by Ksenia Aksenova and a diploma, was awarded to Bergljot Børresen, a Norwegian veterinarian who has written extensively about human-animal relations, particularly on domestic animals, and challenged anthropocentric notions. The prize was received by Marianne Melgaard on Børresen´s behalf.

Norwegian Animal Protection Day held in Oslo

On Saturday March 21st I attended Dyreverndagen (the Norwegian Animal Protection Day) at DogA in Oslo. The event was organised by a working group sorting under Minding Animals Norway, consisting of some 15 volunteers. Some 170 people attended the event, which consisted of a seminar at day-time and a party/concert with award ceremonies in the evening.

I was on stage at two occasions - first at the end of the seminar, when I surprised project leader Hilde Valbjørn Hagelin with a bouquet of flowers. And then in the evening, I presented the winner of the 2015 Minding Animals award.

Minding Animals stand attended

On Saturday March 21st, at Dyreverndagen (the Norwegian Animal Protection Day) at DogA in Oslo, I attended the Minding Animals stand for some time in the breaks. We sold books, had brochures on display, and explained participants what we are doing as an organisation.

Re-designed homepage for Norwegian Animal Protection Day

Dyreverndagen [the Norwegian Animal Protection Day], to be held in Oslo March 21st 2014, now has a re-designed homepage. Kudos to Hipp Hurra.

Norwegian Animal Protection Day to be held March 21st 2015; venue; homepage

It has now been decided that Dyreverndagen (Norwegian Animal Protection Day) 2015 will take place at DogA in Oslo on Saturday March 21st 2015. Events include an inspirational seminar and evening party with prize ceremony. Dyreverndagen is arranged by a work group sorting under Minding Animals Norway.

Dyreverndagen also has a new homepage and a Facebook page.

Several activities evaluated, planned at Minding Animals board meeting

Yesterday, on Monday July 7th, I attended and chaired the bimonthly board meeting of Minding Animals Norway. 

Issues discussed included updates from the Norwegian Animal Protection Day (Dyreverndagen), which now has around 20 volunteers at work, and documents on media guidelines and communication strategy for that event. The agenda also included preparation of MAN's upcoming annual meeting (September 5th, Oslo), and evalutation of recent activities (stand on Oslo Vegetarfestival (2 days) in May; informal summer party for animal protection activists in Oslo in June with some 20 people attending).

Webpage for Norwegian Animal Protection Day 2015 launched; Minding Animals Prize planned

A working group sorting under Minding Animals Norway is preparing Norwegian Animal Protection Day 2015, which is to take place in Oslo in Spring 2015. The ultimate goal is to make this an annual event. The event will include a seminar and a party with one or more prizes being awarded (including the Minding Animals Prize for best Human-Animal Studies research).
