16 recruitment positions allocated to UIS; Cognitive Lab referred in new UIS news story

Yesterday the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research issued a press release with some details on the distribution of the 4.000 study places and 250 recruitment positions that is proposed added in relation to the revised state budget. University of Stavanger gets 250 study places and 16 recruitment positions.

In an UIS news story titled "Utdanningsløftet gir god uttelling for UIS" (the UIS gets good share of education measure), Vice rector for research Merete Vadla Madland comments on the 16 recruitment positions, emphasizing plans for establishing a cognitive lab (in which I have been involved).

Two-three meetings

Today I have attended the faculty´s leadership group meeting, which included discussing UIS strategy (based on some new signals from the UIS leadership) and a meeting with pro rector for research Merete Vadla Madland. During the latter I presented the level and development of research activity at the faculty, supplementing the Dean´s presentation about research at the faculty.

I also attended and chaired the third meeting of the "new" doctoral committee.

Two and a half meeting

Today I attended the rector meeting at University of Stavanger (for the second time - standing in for Dean at Faculty of social sciences Gro Ellen Mathisen), the Forskningsutvalget (research committee) meeting, and the first 15 minutes of the Vice-Dean for research meeting chaired by Vice-Rector for Research Merete Vadla Madland.

Two meetings and a symposium opening

Today I have taken part, along with Head of Department of social studies, in opening the annual meeting and symposium of the COLAB network, "Collaboration within criminal justice services", a EU Horizon 2020 RISE project which is hosted by the UIS, in my capacity as Vice Dean of Research at Faculty of Social Sciences. I have further attended the first Vice-Dean meeting with the new Vice-Rector of Research (Merete Vadla Madland), with Research Director Troels Gode Jacobsen also attending, and a research report planning meeting with a colleague.

Two meetings and a bachelor thesis graded

Today I have attended two meetings - one on the establishment of a Network for welfare research (with Vice rector for research, research director, and faculty director), and one on digital registration for Ph.d. courses. I have also graded a philosophical bachelor thesis with a scholar at University of Oslo.

Research application plans presented, feedback received at PRE-FRIPRO workshop

On March 18th I presented my research application in process “Umwelt theory for our time” at a PRE-FRIPRO (cf. previous posts) workshop at University of Stavanger. I got feedback from Merete Vadla Madland (the national IOR Centre of Norway), Dag Oppen Berntsen (Research Council of Norway) and others.
