Today I have moderated three hours of appointment with politicians at Stavanger City Hall involving international MFAMILY Erasmus Mundus students taking the course "Welfare state and welfare policy".

3 hours of MEM teaching

Today I taught for 3 hours for the MFAMILY MUNDUS class - introduction to field work at Stavanger City Hall next week. Two hours of introduction into the Norwegian political system, followed by an hour of student presentations based on preliminary research on Norwegian parties and social policies.

Today I have attended a work lunch with two colleagues concerning evaluation and planning of teaching at Master level on welfare policies etc.

Teaching on master level on autonomy and paternalism

Today I have lectured for close to three hours in a joint session for the MFAMILY class and Norwegian master students, with the topic autonomy and paternalism in political (and moral) theory.

Erasmus Mundus funding achieved for MFAMILY, second round

The University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies has successfully applied for Erasmus Mundus funding for Master in Social Work with Families and Children (MFAMILY) for a new round. I have been somewhat involved in the application work, in relation to revision and presentation of the course "Welfare state and welfare policy".

Student evaluation - results

I have earlier composed questions for student evaluation of the course "Welfare state and welfare policy", and today I received the results, which I have shared with other teachers in the course. Most feedback was mildly positive, though there were also some critical remarks.

Meeting with deputy mayor of Stavanger

Today I attended and facilitated a meeting between Erasmus Mundus students in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" course and the deputy mayor of Stavanger at Stavanger City Hall. This was our last appointment in field work this month.

Today, along with a colleague from Department of social studies, I have accompanied students in the "Welfare state and welfare policy" class at a meeting at Stavanger City Hall. Several such meetings with politicians and policy-makers are to take place over the next couple of weeks.

Today I taught for 3 hours - 2 hours lecture and 1 hour teacher-assisted group work - in Welfare state and welfare policy (MEM110). This was the introduction to our field visit at Stavanger municipality this week, including an introduction to the Norwegian political system.

The last few weeks, starting in early December, I have been involved in revising the course description for the MUNDUS course "Welfare state and welfare policy" (MEM110), in connection with an upcoming MFAMILY application to be sent in December by University of Stavanger and cooperating universities. A new version of the course description was sent today (third submission).

Meeting the MFAMILY students

Today I have met the Erasmus MUNDUS students in MFAMILY and presented the course arrangements for "Welfare state and welfare policy", which I am coordinating this year. I also stayed for lunch.

To teach in MSO121

I have been asked, and agreed, to lecture in the course MSO121, Velferdsstaten - politikk og teori [The welfare state - politics and theory] at University of Stavanger´s Department of social studies. Some of my teaching will be joint for MSO121 and the Erasmus Mundus course MEM110, but I will also give a 3-hour lecture in Norwegian (on autonomy etc.).
