3 hours of lectures in master course on the welfare state

Today I have lectured for 3 hours on the topics of autonomy and paternalism in a Master course on the welfare state (MSO121). This is my only teaching in this course, which resembles but is not identical to a course I taught in some years back.

4 appointments including 2 employee appraisals

Today I have attended 4 scheduled appointments/meeting, including 2 employee appraisals (total to date: 68, of which 5 in August). One of the appointments involved taking part in the opening of our new master degree in child welfare work (master i barnevernsarbeid).

Two Master defences at UiO

Today I have acted as external examiner at two philosophical Master degree defences at University of Oslo (Norun Pernell Haugen and Hilde Andenæs), both with an animal theme.

Oral exam - MA defence

Today I participated, as internal examiner, in the oral exam held in relation to Linn Tjøtta´s Master degree defence. The grade for the thesis was given two days ago.

Master students´ research seminar attended

Today I have attended parts of the master students´ research seminar at Department of social studies, including the presentation of the plans for the master thesis of Linn Tjøtta, whom I am supervising.

Tartu: MA programme in semiotics - application deadline April 16th

University of Tartu´s Department of Semiotics seeks applicants for its Master programme in semiotics for the academic year 2015-2016. The MA programme has been running since 2009, with very good results. For instance, several students have progressed to PhD studies following the MA programme.

Tartu semiotics is really something special, with its heritage which includes a classic within cultural semiotics such as Juri Lotman (pictured below), as well as a precursor to biosemiotics such as Jakob von Uexküll.
