"Fagdag" and a meeting

Today I co-chaired the annual "fagdag" (academic day) of Faculty of social sciences along with Turid Borgen. The topic was dissemination (formidling). Some 60 people attended.

I also attended a work meeting in the research administration of the faculty.

YFF evaluation

I have just completed an evaluation survey for my use of an YFF grant (Yngre Fremragende Forskere = Outstanding Young Researchers) from University of Stavanger. Excerpts of my response is available below.

What did you do?

Attended the OECD Social Policy Forum in Montreal, attended First WID.world conference (with launch of first World Inequality Report) in Paris, attended and presented at conferences in Mexico City and Berkeley, California, co-organised and presented at research seminar in Havana, field trip to the Amazonas

Paris School of Economics; Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve (Amazonas); OECD Social Policy Forum (Montreal); Universidad de la Habana (Havana); Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico City)

Did the visit lead to any collaboration projects?

The visits have resulted in material for scientific articles as well as useful contacts for an ERC-application and NFR-application (two applications submitted). The Havana visit, with further UIS colleagues, contributed to a successful NORPART grant Stavanger-Havana (5 mill. NOK awarded).

Writing trip to Tromsø

I am on my way to Tromsø, for my final trip before the holidays and the final trip funded by my YFF funding (Yngre Fremragende Forskere = Young outstanding researchers). This will be a writing trip, my second such trip.

Letten Prize application

I applied for the Letten Prize 2018. Like 200 or so others.

Two more trips arranged

I have arranged travel and then some for two upcoming trips funded by YFF money - one to the Amazonas (through Manaus), and another one, a writing trip, to Tromsø. Both will take place this summer before I go for holiday (at home).

Nature

I have just signed up for a year´s subscription to Nature, to be paid with my Outstanding Young Researcher funds.

Awarded UiS Outstanding young researchers grant

I have just been notified that I have, as one of 10 people at University of Stavanger, been awarded a "Yngre fremragende forskere" [Outstanding young researchers] grant. This implies that I have to think about meaningful ways to spend 150.000 NOK by September 1st 2018 for research-related activities.
