Biosemiotics 12(3) published

Biosemiotics volume 12, issue 3 has been published. The volume includes our editorial "Jesper Hoffmeyer´s Biosemiotic Legacy", an obituary for Jesper, an interview with Jesper, and five original research articles.

Obituary for John Deely

I have written an obituary for my dear colleague and friend John Deely, who passed  January 6th. The obituary, co-written with Yogi Hale Hendlin and Jonathan Beever, is titled "A world of signs: in memory of John Deely (1942–2017)" and will appear in Zeitschrift für Semiotik´s special issue on biosemiotic ethics, to which John contributed.

Petition referred to in the obituary of Helge Ole Bergesen, former UiS research director

Former research director at University of Stavanger (UiS), Helge Ole Bergesen, died on June 29th. In an obituary in Stavanger Aftenblad ("Helge Ole Bergen er død" [Helge Ole Bergen is dead]), the newspaper refers to the petition for restructuring at UiS (see previous posts) that I wrote and co-initiated last autumn, which was signed by Bergesen.

[...] he was among the researchers who last autumn signed the petition that demanded a restructuring at UiS, towards a research profile that points forward and takes climate change into account.
